Before its launch in 2011, the idea of a compact and affordable small SUV by Land Rover was laughable. Boy have they shown us with the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.
Despite being the smallest SUV in the range, it certainly sizes up well when compared to other Land Rover Range Rover models. It has a ground clearance of 215mm and can wade through water as deep as 500mm – so yes, it’s small and stylish, but it’s more than capable of handling many off-road terrains as well as street driving.
I guess though you’re not here to see how the Evoque handles mountains or lakes so let’s talk daily driving. The Range Rover Evoque is capable of stopping anyone in their tracks. With a unique beefy yet provoking build, it certainly attracts many eyes as you cruise through the town centre. Most people won’t even know what it is or even that Land Rover made it! But they will know it isn’t an average vehicle. The slender silhouette of the 3 door Evoque coupe I have is very distinctive thanks to the contrasting vent blades and beautifully styled halogen lights.

So you’ve driven around the block with a smile on your face for a while now, time to go shopping. SPLASH OUT because the boot has ample space for everything you deserve to buy yourself! Even on the coupe model, there are 550 litres of boot space in the Evoque. AMAZING!
Most people will prefer the 5 door model to this 3 door coupe and that’s ok. It’s all about practicality with these cars. I don’t have any kids and I rarely take more than one passenger if I’m heading out so I don’t need the 5 doors (plus, the look of the coupe appealed to me more).

This particular model has loads of cool technology inside, even though it’s on the lower end of the price scale.
The cruise control is a standard luxury for those longer journeys which is great when combined with the very comfortable heated seats – some of which come with a massage function… just don’t fall asleep!
You can also play your favourite songs directly from your phone with the Bluetooth connectivity and every music genre sounds great from the Meridian sound systems 10 carefully arranged speakers. The InControl Touch Pro multimedia systems is very easy to use and doesn’t distract too much from driving thanks to the (minimum) 8″ touch screen with intuitive touch and swipe gestures. The parking sensors are good at saving money too as you won’t need to replace the bumper!
I really do love this car. A lot of folks have a few tongue-in-cheek comments about it being a woman’s car but I don’t advocate sexism or stereotypes. The Range Rover Evoque is highly satisfying for anyone who’s brave enough to get behind the wheel and try it out!
